Samaritan's Feet Report: Lima, Peru
AUGUST 6 - 13, 2008
by EMILIO SEDA
This trip was without a doubt a spiritual experience that changed both Wayne Richardson and me for life. To wake every morning with devotion and be in God’s presence for a great deal of the day was such an uplifting spiritual experience.
The team of 11 that we worked with was made up of young Christians from age 16 to 23 and a middle age group starting from their mid-thirties up to an old dude like me. We came from different backgrounds and different walks of life. But we had one thing in common, our love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
We set up in Manchai which is one of the poorest districts of Lima. There we distributed over 350 pairs of shoes, including 35 pairs to children of the Centro Shama Orphanage which provides food and shelter to homeless and abused children.
The living conditions that our Christian brothers in Peru lived under were the toughest that I have ever seen. But their love for God and the faith was so strong that it was unreal to believe. As I told Wayne, these living conditions and environment took us back to biblical times. The church at the earthquake area of Chinchi where they worship consisted of dirt floors, straw walls and straw roofs. Their faith was without a doubt the strongest I have ever seen. In Chinchi we distributed close to 300 pairs of shoes to people affected by the earthquake.
The two leaders that we met, Bruce Bodman and Pastor Ron Smith were the true examples of servant leaders. Their love for the word of God and people was so strong and gives us an example of what it means to walk in Christ like ways. By the end of our trip, the team washed the feet and distributed almost 1200 pairs of shoes to the people of Peru.
This trip gave me an understanding of scriptures that I have read before, but now I understand what they mean. This experience has given me a peace in my heart and an appreciation for the blessings that God has given me. I hope that I will be able to be part of another mission trip in the near future.

Samaritan's Feet - Lima, Peru 2008
Wayne Richardson and Emilio Seda of Solid Rock set out with the Samaritan's Feet Team to Lima, Peru from August 6-13, 2008.
A "Hands-on" Mission
How many times have you packed a shoebox to send to a child you may never meet, wondering what it must feel like to be there in person sharing the Gospel message directly with that child, while modeling compassion as Christ did in a tangible way?
Well, that's exactly what Wayne Richardson and Emilio Seda of Solid Rock did when they set out with the Samaritan's Feet Team to Lima, Peru from August 6-13, 2008.
What is Samaritan's Feet?
Samaritan's Feet is an International ministry focused on brining a life-changing message of hope to youths and children through sports and recreational adventures.
They provide relief to hurting people displaced due to poverty, ravaged wars, and religious persecution.
They demonstrate compassion by washing and equipping their feet with shoes, and touching their hearts with the love of God. Find out more>>
