What does "Ministry" look like?
It is impossible to be effective in ministry if we do not have a proper understanding of what "ministry" really is.

At Solid Rock, our philosophy of ministry is derived from the principles we find in the Word of God in passages such as: Ephesians 4:11-16, Matthew 28:16-20, Colossians 1:28-29, and 2 Timothy 2:1-7. These passages of scripture paint a very clear picture of what God intended ministry to be.

In his book "Making Sense of the Ministry", Warren Wiersbe summarizes the nature of ministry this way:

Foundation of ministry Character
Nature of ministry Service
Motive of ministry Love
Measure of ministry Sacrifice
Authority of ministry Submission
Purpose of ministry Glory of God
Tools for ministry Word of God and Prayer
Privilege of ministry Growth
Power of ministry Holy Spirit
Model for ministry Jesus Christ

If this is the type of ministry you desire to be a part of, then Solid Rock may be for you.

The Solid Rock Ministry Purposes
Solid Faith
The primary purpose of all ministry activity at Solid Rock is that every person will be built up and strengthened in their faith. Scripture teaches that “without faith, it is impossible to please God”. However, it also teaches us the “faith without works is dead”. Therefore, we purpose to raise up wholehearted followers of Jesus Christ who demonstrate a lifestyle of active and Solid Faith through the ministry of worship, preaching, teaching, discipleship, evangelism, prayer, bible study and other faithbuilding ministries of the church. Colossians 2:6-7

Solid Families
The family was the first institution founded by God in the Garden of Eden. The family unit remains of utmost importance to God. In fact, family is so important to God that He requires those who oversee His church to have “Solid Families” before they are qualified to serve in that capacity (1 Tim 3:2-5). Therefore, we purpose to minister to the needs of families through ministries such as LifeBuilders, Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Operation Compassion, and other family-oriented ministries & magnet groups. Joshua 24:15

Solid Friendships
Man was created for fellowship. Adam walked and talked with God in the garden, but God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, so he created a wife according to his kind. That marriage became a family, and that family became a community. The Bible clearly teaches that we were not created for fellowship with God alone, but also for fellowship with one another.

We are to love our neighbor as ourselves, do unto others as we would have others do unto us, and let the world know we are His disciples by our love. This is the model of community and fellowship displayed by the early church in Acts 2:44-47.

Therefore, we purpose to create opportunities for godly fellowship inside and outside of the church walls; times where we can enjoy life and live out our faith with authenticity before all men, to the honor and glory of God. Hebrews 10:24-25.
