Our theme for 2012 is "To Every Man an Answer", based on 1 Peter 3:15, which instructs us to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." As a follower of Christ, we must know the one we are following and why we believe in His Word.
Many Christians are hesitant of sharing their faith with others because they are afraid to be asked a question they can't answer. Other Christians feel so prepared to defend what they believe that they focus on winning the battle...only to lose the war for someone’s soul.
You see, it is our job to answer those around us who ask about Christ, but it’s the Holy Spirit’s job to win their hearts. As defenders of the faith we must also be compassionate to those who ask.
2 Timothy 24-26 reminds us to "not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patient. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth."
So how is Solid Rock Church working to prepare followers to defend? Well, Pastor Tom Stimpson is leading the effort to build up learning opportunities and resources...we call it the Solid Rock Faith Defense Institute.
What is the Solid Rock Faith Defense Institute?
The Solid Rock Faith Defense Institute is a Christian apologetics ministry dedicated to helping train Christians to boldly defend the faith. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive listing of information, resources, and available studies that will help you understand what the Bible tells us and equip you to "give an answer to everyone who asks".
During the year, Solid Rock will be offering several courses during regular Bible Study hours, group studies and special conferences to enable you to build a strong foundation in God's Word.
