The Church of God Executive Committee and World Missions leaders are currently evaluating and assessing the damage that our churches and ministries have suffered from the super typhoon--Haiyan- that made landfall late Friday (their time) in the Philippines.
Haiyan--known as Yolanda in the Philippines- was one of the most powerful storms ever recorded. At the time of this release, the news agencies are reporting only limited deaths; however, these numbers are expected to rise as the worst affected areas are accessed. Over 12 million people live in the storm's path.
The Philippines is home to 673 congregations of the Church of God, as well as four Bible schools, a graduate seminary, orphanages, and other ministries. We are still endeavoring to secure reports as to the status of our churches, pastors, and members.
Please join with our church leaders in fervent prayer for our brothers and sisters who have and continue to be impacted by this storm. We will keep you updated as news and information are received.
Interested in starting up a Magnet Group?
Small groups bring people together (like a magnet) who share a common interest, such as: cooking, book studies, crafts...to name a few.
In a large church like ours, a smaller setting makes it easier to meet people and develop friendships. It's a safe place to ask questions, build friendships, and experience mutual care and support.
Do you have a passion for movies, quilting, or Harleys? Chances are someone else in our church, a family member, friend, or coworker does too. Pastor Tom Stimpson encourages us to be creative in forming small groups that not only deepen our passion with Christ, but also our relationships with each other.
Open season for starting a Magnet Group runs from November 17 - December 8 to begin on January 5, 2014. To find out more on how you can organize a small group at Solid Rock, visit our Magnet Group Request Form page which can also be found in our Forms Online section of the Resources menu tab at the top of any of our pages. There you will find a description of how our groups are organized, requirements, and an online request form. Make a difference...change others and change yourself.
