Each New Year brings new opportunities for us to focus on new challenges in ministry. In the hearts of many of our leaders and members, there is a yearning for a Bible-based paradigm for ministry. Solid Rock’s Senior Leadership Team has engaged in a time of prayer, study and dialogue to determine God’s leading direction for this change.
There are two major focuses of interest.
First, in order for us to succeed in our ministry purpose: to Reach Out and Raise Up! we must strengthen our foundational relationships with God, as well as with one another (Church Community Connection). In 2006, we will concentrate on thematic teaching and preaching that will serve to strengthen these relationships. To facilitate this initiative, we will create small groups (strategically planted in surrounding communities) to bring these themes to the neighborhoods we live in. We must bring the church back into the homes!
Secondly, we will be using our small groups as opportunities to evangelize our neighborhoods (Neighborhood Community Connection). Every member of each small group will recognize their privilege and responsibility to share the Good News with those who do not know Christ.
We will develop each member to be a “Mission Minded” Christian and give opportunities for serving God in new, innovative ways such as Servant Evangelism, Prayer Walking, and Presentations of the Gospel message.
2006 will be a “defining moment” in the progress of Solid Rock Church. We will approach it with a bold faith and a complete trust in our awesome God, who is always faithful to His people. 2006 is the year of Community Connection!
